Importance of Parenting

Children are the most sensitive and vulnerable individuals living around us. All of the experiences they get during their early lives have the power to form their identity later in life. As the primary caregivers are parents, the environment provided by them, is mainly created by their own past experiences. Which may or may not be positive or healthy in nature, but the child starts to grow in that environment. The practices they follow, the language they prominently use, the food they feed themselves, the kind of entertainment programs they watch; in short, whatever things are done by parents have the greatest impact on the child and his/her development. Ultimately it would not be wrong to say, these experiences shape the identity of the child throughout life.

Parents have also formed their identities from their childhood and adult life experiences. But the majority of the time parents showcase the parenting behavior they saw their parents following. Now, all of us need to ask ourselves, does it apply to use roughly 3 decades old parenting strategies with this constantly updating world? No, we cannot use the age-old method of parenting with this new tech generation. First of all, we have to let go of our own past experiences and start learning new tactics. For becoming the parent of this generation, we not only have to adapt to the current strategies but also need to follow positive parenting. Children are like water, they get the shape of the vessel they are poured in. We have to believe that there are no bad children, only good and bad behaviors of the children. Hence, learning new parenting strategies is important and positive parenting plays a crucial role in shaping the child.

Such reasons lead us towards believing that parenting is by far the most important practice during the early childhood and we consciously need to be aware of the practices we follow and it requires constant updation.
